We would like to inform you that you have been sent an Exceptional (credit) Bill, which refunds you the amount of Clearance of Special Levy on Pollutant Emissions (SLPE or ETMEAR in Greek).
How to identify the Exceptional Bill:
The first (1st) page of the bill will feature the following details:
- Date of Issuance: 12/5/2020
- Zero charge for Electricity Supply &
- Zero Consumption Period
Where is the Refund for which you qualify?
This Exceptional Bill has been sent for your optimal and more transparent information and features the exact amount credited to you on the second (2nd) page of the bill. Please read below for more information regarding the method for determining the amount of discount of the Exceptional Bill.
What is the mode of determination of the Total Amount of Payment?
If you haven’t yet paid your latest monthly bill, please take into account that the total amount of payment is the amount featured on the 1st page of the Exceptional Bill. If you have already paid this bill, your Refund has already been transferred to your next Bill.
We would also like to clarify to our customers who pay their bills via direct debit that the refund of their money has already been credited to their bank account.

What is SLPE?
SLPE stands for Special Levy on Pollutant Emissions. According to the legislation in force, this levy is collected in order to compensate producers of electricity from Renewable Energy Sources (RES). This levy amounts to our collective contribution to the reduction of pollutant emissions through the promotion of RES. Unit charges for SLPE are based on the legislation in force at the time.
The Special Levy on Pollutant Emissions is subject to V.A.T.

Do I qualify for retroactive clearance of the SLPE tariff?
The categories of persons that qualify for reduced SLPE tariff for the period from 01.01.2019 up to and including 31.12.2028 are described in full detail in Article 4 of the Official Government Gazette (FEK) of the Hellenic Republic B/3373/31.08.2019. More specifically, for the years 2019 and 2020, the persons who qualify for Base Tariff (17€/MWh), and by extension for retroactive SLPE clearance for consumption starting from 01.01.2019, are (i) Low Voltage Residential Use consumers and (ii) Other Low Voltage Use consumers. It is understood that Other Low Voltage Use does not include Agricultural Use.
What is the mode for calculation “SLPE Clearance from 1.1.2019” that appears on the Consumption Bill?
The amount of “SLPE Clearance from 1.1.2019” is one-off and featured in an exceptional bill issued for Base Tariff (17€/MWh) consumers within 2020. The credited amount is calculated based on the quantity of energy consumption metered from 01.01.2019 to the date of application of the Base Tariff, in accordance with the provisions of the Official Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic (FEK) B/3373/31.08.2019. If this duration of this consumption extends to a time period before 01.01.2019, the relevant energy quantities are apportioned in days.
